How Many Years Does A Bankruptcy Filing Stay On My Credit Report?

The reporting of a bankruptcy filing will remain on a debtor’s credit report for a period of 10 years. Any delinquencies that had been previously reported may have already impacted the debtor’s credit. In many cases, once a debtor has completed their bankruptcy filing, they may find themselves in a better position to pay current bills and may be able to obtain new credit. A debtor may receive a discharge in bankruptcy once every six years.
