John graduated, in May 1995, from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he earned membership in Who's Who in American Law Students and the UCLA Moot Court Honors Program. He passed the California Bar Examination in December in 1995.

He has written on important issues related to adjustment of status, changes in immigration policies since the events of September 11, 2001, H-1B visas, investor visas, and the Department of State's Exchange Visitor Program. He has also been a principal speaker at State and County meetings on H-1B, J-1, and Immigration Compliance issues. An advocate for immigrants, he has represented foreign nationals in Federal District Courts and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
